$32 dollar solution
Everyone pitched in to help and Burlingame schools continues to have Crossing Guards.
Faced with even more budget cuts, the Burlingame City Council decided to eliminate funding the School Crossing Guards. The Burlingame School District lacked the money to fund the School Crossing Guards without cutting essential programs and services.
The PTAs of the affected Elementary Schools were unable to provide the School Crossing Guards because of legal restrictions. Yet they firmly believed that without the School Crossing Guards the safety of our school children was at risk.
$64,000 was needed to continue the program.
Safeway contributed $32,000 and residents and non-residents sent checks to the CBB to cover the remaining $32,000.
