Martin L Dreiling is an architect and is currently president of CSS Associates Architects, Inc. He has worked with notable firms in the Bay Area since 1981 and has extensive design and project management experience in projects ranging from small residential additions to multi-million-dollar urban mixed-use blocks. His primary interests now concern educational and community design, with a strong emphasis on low-impact design and sustainability.
Mr. Dreiling’s professional affiliations include membership in the American Planning Association, the Congress for the New Urbanism, the Planning and Conservation League, The Coalition for Adequate School Housing (CASH), and the Train Riders Association of California (TRAC).
Mr. Dreiling’s local community activities and affiliations span a broad range of roles including participation on the San Mateo County Design Review Committee (1995-present) and, the BIS Mentorship Program, chairing the Broadway Streetscape Steering Committee, planning and presentation support for Burlingame Citizens for Open Space and Citizens for a Better Burlingame and membership in the Burlingame Homeowners Association. In addition to participating in several local design and planning charrettes and co-authoring the Burlingame Residential and Commercial Design Guidelines, Mr. Dreiling was a member of the Burlingame Planning Commission from 1999 to 2002. Mr. Dreiling was also instrumental in creating Residential Design Review for Burlingame and served as one of the first Design Review professionals. .
Martin Dreiling has lived in Burlingame with his wife Deborah Hall and son Henry since 1984.
